Pycon Bug Report
Original Bug Report:
Filed by: Adria
Status: New
Release: Not triaged
Comment: I was expecting to see developers come to a conference to learn and network. Instead I saw some attendees making jokes that made me uncomfortable, pycon less desirable to females, and distracted me from learning. Picture attached.
=====
Comment: Adria, we'd prefer if you submitted tickets to the private security list first.
=====
Comment: I submitted one to the private security list before, but I was seeing the issue again. I care more about this being fixed than following procedure - Adria
====
Status change: Cannot Reproduce, Closed.
Comment: Feature not a bug.
=====
Status change: Reopened
Priority change: High
Comment: Try it on a female (F) unit instead of a straight white male (SWM) unit. Instead of increased morale we see increased lack of participation and a high probability of the unit dropping out of the participant pool. There is some anecdotal evidence this affects other segments as well.
=====
Priority change: Low
Comment: We pretty much only focus on SWM. SWM is our largest segment (> 80%).
=====
Priority change: Blocker
Comment: Business sees segments other than SWM as growing markets that we need experience in to succeed.
=====
Tagged Release: Distant future
Comment: The solution to this would require too much re-architecture. Any changes would negatively affect the system in the short term.
=====
Tagged Release: 2014
Comment: I made a change to the communication protocol of the system and saw substantial gains in all segments. The SWM segment did see a small decrease in participation (some felt unsafe and insecure, similar to the original bug report), but this was more than compensated by an increase in participation by other segments.
=====
Comment: +1. When this feature is released I would love to come to PyCon!

@kevinlawler: Programmers want to optimize for clean syntax, because it's easy to see syntax. But the payoff is better for clean semantics.
